Access Control Standard (PSA 67:2021)

February 16, 2022

The new technical standard for contractors operating in the Access Control sector which was published last November will become a requirement for licensing from the 1st June 2022.

From the 1st June, contractors in the Access Control sector will be required to comply with the requirements of PSA 67:2021. A copy of the standard together with the associated auditing guidelines are available here.

Contractors will be audited for compliance with PSA 67:2021 at their next scheduled audit. Contractors operating only in the Access Control sector will be required to provide two installations for audit. Contractors who also operate in the CCTV and/or Intruder Alarm sector will be required to provide 1 installation from each sector for audit. For example, a contractor operating in all 3 sectors will require 1 Access Control installation, 1 CCTV installation and 1 Intruder Alarm installation for audit.

Changes have also been made to the audit requirements for contractors who hold licences in the CCTV and Intruder Alarm sectors. From the 1st June 2022, contractors who operate in both sectors will be required to provide 1 installation from each sector for audit. Contractors operating in a single sector will still be required to provide 2 installations.

Contractors should familiarise themselves with both the standard and the auditing guidelines in advance of their next audit.
