Guardian24 Launches Exclusive Lone Worker Key Fob Alarm

Guardian24, a leading provider of lone worker safety solutions, has launched an exclusive new personal safety alarm – the MicroGuard.

The key-fob sized device combines the latest GPS, GPRS and G-sensor technologies to provide lone workers with an easy to use, yet highly effective means to call for help at the touch of a button.

Certified to the British Standard for Lone Worker Device Services (BS 8484), the MicroGuard connects to Guardian24’s dedicated UK Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC); also certified to BS 8484 and BS 5979 (Category II). Trained ARC Controllers will determine the nature of the situation through GPS location tracking and remote two way audio streaming. In addition to the SOS button, MicroGuard also features a fall alarm which will automatically raise an alert to the ARC in the event of a fall or sudden impact.

Another feature of the device allows the user to leave specific pre alert voice messages providing details of their activity and location. These voice messages will be immediately available to the ARC controllers if an alarm is activated, providing vital additional information which can be passed to the emergency responder.

Despite MicroGuard’s small size, the device boasts a market-leading battery life of over 200 hours in standby, depending on how the device is configured for use. And the device’s flexible design means it can be discreetly worn as a pendant, attached to a keyring or belt, or even worn as an identity card holder using an accessory.

Guardian24’s service provides clients with 24/7 access to an online portal which allows administrators to update user information in real-time, and customise the emergency protocols and contacts which ARC controllers will follow and notify during alarms. All alarm calls and actions taken by the ARC are digitally recorded allowing them to be used for evidential purposes, if required.

Guardian24 has been working for some time to further increase their device choice.  The company already provides access to its protection services through traditional mobile phones, smartphones including BlackBerry®, Android, iPhone, Windows Mobile and tablets. Leona Mills, Marketing Manager of Guardian24 explains the rationale behind their additional device offering;

“Guardian24 became the market leader in this sector by delivering services on whatever device best suited both the client organisation and the end user.  In this way we provide the maximum flexibility and choice for our lone worker users.  We uniquely allow each end user to have the Guardian24 service available to them on two devices – in recognition of the growing trend to have both a work and personal mobile phone. Adding the MicroGuard to our product portfolio allows us to offer a compact lone worker device that can be used in addition to our smartphone app, providing the user with 24/7 protection for just a single subscription fee.”
